In July to winter of 2023 there was a drought declared in Wisconsin.  We can continue to monitor all conditions before, during and after a drought at the NOAA site:  https://www.weather.gov/mkx/Drought

USDA assistance for Farms

Contact your local FSA (Farm Service Agency) for the county your farm is in to find out what you might be eligible for during a drought in your area of Wisconsin.

Implications of Drought

Plants, animals and humans experience heat stroke, heat exhaustion and sometimes death.

Drought is both an outcome of climate change and leads to further global warming, as more heat is trapped in the Earth's atmosphere.

There are more deaths from heat and drought than other disasters like floods, tornadoes and fires.

NOAA monitors weather conditions, fire hazards, flood risks, air quality and other environmental factors.
